The Icelandic Yule Lads are getting busy today in Iceland.

I am interested in Iceland this year because I learned about the Christmas Bookflood, and I am knitting an Icelandic sweater.

“It’s a well-known fact that most Icelandic Christmas songs suck pretty hard,” an expert on the subject says, and I cannot disagree. Here are some videos that kind of make this point.

Or perhaps you may like the song about the Christmas Cat. The experts named above recommended this one, which is about a cat that eats children who don’t have new clothes for Christmas.

Clearly, life is pretty hard in Iceland, like all the time. However, they have had a mere 28 deaths from the pandemic. They had a science-based plan, and have had 5,524 total cases. In the United States, our plan was to close our eyes, stuff up our ears, and go “Lalalalalalalal!” until the scientists quit talking. We’ve had 15.7 million cases and 293,000 deaths.

We do have better Christmas music and fewer Christmas monsters, though.

The picture at the top of this post is the Sausage Swiper, who comes to town on the 20th. I’ll tell you more about him then.
