Is a Brookside bar a better choice than your favorite candy bar?
Brookside bars macronutrients:
Calories: 180
Fat: 9 grams, 2 g saturated fat
Sugars: 13 grams
Fiber: 3 grams
Protein: 4 grams
They also contain 10% each of the RDA of Vitamins C, E, and A, plus 6% iron and 2% calcium.
Compare that with a Snickers bar:
Calories: 215
Fat: 11 grams, 6 g saturated fat
Sugars: 20 grams
Fiber: .08 grams
Protein: 3 grams
While they don’t have 10% of any micronutrient, they do provide 4% of the RDA for calcium.
So if you are determined to eat a candy bar, a Brookstone bar is better than a Snickers bar.
They’re comparable to commercially-produced trail mix, actually. A handful of almonds has a much better nutritional profile, though, even if you add a few raisins for sweetness. Or dark chocolate chips, for that matter.
