The equinox arrived, just like a switch being thrown, the weather became cool, damp, soft. Time for flannel nighties, pumpkin shades, apples, early tea in bed in the morning.
Tilapia, cauliflower rice, butter lettuce. The turn of the season, for me, is an end to the chaos of summer and a return to the more disciplined way of life.
I was looking back in my blog to see whether this is true. On the one hand, yes. But on the other hand, life is full of surprises. I have a grandbaby. I went to Rome and Paris. I need cataract surgery and just got a large and surprising bill from the IRS. I lost my mother and she is getting business offers through my email… not sure what to do about that. We have a new client with a product I had never even heard of before. I have a lovely life flowing along with predictable seasonal variations and also big surprises. Mostly marvelous surprises.
I’ve been thinking a lot about Thanksgiving. #2 son’s girlfriend is coming, so I want some excellent vegetarian main dish. Also, #2 daughter’s boyfriend is coming, so we need plenty of meat.
So I spent a lot of time on Pinterest admiring stuffed mushrooms and centerpieces with tiny pumpkins and candles. I’m in the mood to decorate for fall and step up my vegetable preparation.
Cauliflower rice is pretty good. Portobello mushrooms stuffed with quinoa, walnuts, and cranberries sound pretty tasty, too. Onward, Pumpkin Spice!
