Yesterday was Thanksgiving Day. We have no pictures of the meal, the decorations, or of all the family.

The day began with the news that my husband’s brother had died in Thailand. Our guests were already on their way, there is no one else in town who could take on the entertaining, and I didn’t know what to do, so we just went ahead.

It was a good gathering in spite of that, I think, but I remember how I felt when my brothers died, so it probably wasn’t a good gathering from my husband’s point of view at all.

From the point of view of health, it could have been a day of turkey and vegetables followed by a brisk tramp with the dogs, but it actually involved five pieces of pie and board games. #1 daughter is bringing doughnuts for breakfast.
