The Baby has a new friend.
This is Charlotte the Fox, from Louise Crowther’s Knitted Animal Friends. She’s knitted up in Scheepjes Stonewashed, main color Coral and second color Moon Stone, on #2 needles. I used Suncatcher safety eyes and embroidered her nose in Coudburst fingering weight yarn, which was the only black yarn I had on hand. I will be making an outfit for her from the clothes in the book — probably the horse’s dungarees and the cat’s sweater.
She’s less refined than the picture in the book, but I think her lanky, goofy look is very appealing, so I’m happy with her.
The instructions are very clear and the shaping is clever. I saw a note at Ravelry from Blue Carol, who did it seamlessly. She started with the legs and knitted them on as she worked. I might try that.
However, I think the rustic nature of the beast is not about my knitting, but rather the stuffing and sewing together. I’m happy with the results, though.
The Baby came to stay with me while #1 daughter and the other grandmother went shopping. We had fun, the Baby, the Bun, and me.
