Every year my first ritual of the new year is Clearing: walking through my home with pen and paper, listing everything I see that needs fixing or changing. Throughout the year I work from this list to fix up everything in my home. Some years I get through most of the things on the list and some years I don’t, but I know what needs doing.
This year I’m also going through time. Just as the Clearing involves moving through space and identifying all the issues, I’m being mindful through my day and identifying issues. For example, I’m going to take a minute to get into workout gear first thing in the morning instead of doing my 30 minutes of stepping in my nightgown. That started today. My physical space clearing action today was organizing my nightstand and putting away all the clutter in my bedroom, dusting as I did so.
Well begun is half done, right?
