Labor Day Weekend, my Personal Sewing Weekend. I slept in and had blueberry pancakes and bacon for breakfast. Then I sewed up both pairs of Elle pants while watching Bad Moms.

I am not a bad mom, but I am a bad seamstress. Fortunately, Elle pants are very forgiving. Perhaps the message of the movie allowed me to embrace my badness.

I had a lot of technical issues. The sewing machine needle fell out. It took me about 10 minutes to thread the machine, because of my failing vision. That sounds like a joke, but it’s true. I also sewed the waistband on backwards on one pair. I didn’t change it. I’m going to make it work, especially since nobody ever sees my waistbands.

But I completed the machine sewing on both pairs of pants, however badly, by noon. I stopped for lunch and then did the handwork, completing both pairs before dinner.

The fabric is a very nice rayon blend ponte knit, very soft and lightweight.

I also found the Coco jacket pattern. I cut it out. I’m looking forward to making this piece and very thankful that I found that pattern.

The hem facing and front facing are cleverly cut together.

But I also made some progress on the Woven T. I did the darts and the hem by hand, the shoulde4r and side seams by machine. I will probably baste the sleeves in by hand and then complete them by machine. I expect I’ll finish that top after church tomorrow.

Then the skirt in the afternoon, and the jacket — or perhaps the jackets plural — can be done on Monday.
