Advent is a time of watching, waiting, and longing. In our songs this week, we’ve seen the anticipation of the Christ child, the calling to the Babe to come, the yearning for God in our lives, and the powerful yet mysterious images people have used to make this desire for God more concrete and comprehensible.

But today I’m tired. Like my granddaughter in the picture above. Except that she just gets to sleep and I had to work till the end of the day.

So here’s a song telling us to stay awake while we wait.

I’ve had a long week, though, filled with meetings and work and family time and other good things. I am seriously thinking of having a cocktail and definitely planning to relax and get some progress made on my Christmas gift knitting.
