I woke up at 3:30 this morning and didn’t go back to sleep for far too long afterward. Taxes, my messy house, my high blood sugar numbers, medical bills, the pressure of work — these things were on my mind.

I gave up trying to get back to sleep and read for a bit. Eventually I fell asleep, and the dog woke me, barking, at 6:50.

Starting my day late.

Last night in diabetes class I asked about cutting carbs now that I’m no longer taking Metformin. My blood glucose numbers have been in range just 60% of the time since that change. The educator suggested that I have a bedtime snack of 15 grams carbohydrates plus some protein. I had popcorn and cashews.

My BG this morning was 142. It should be under 130. So that snack didn’t help.
