#1 son brought his fiancee and her kids to dinner last night. He had spent the day here working, and we had done some collaborating, and then my DIL-Elect and the children arrived. My husband made larp and I made cookies. The little girl helped stir.

It was a lot of fun, but today I am torn. On the one hand, I’m poised to dive into the holiday excitement, so I need to recharge with some time by myself. On the other hand, #2 son is coming in tomorrow and I need to clean the house, get ready for my house guest, and restock the fridge. On the third hand, there’s quite a bit of work that didn’t get done yesterday… and the days before that when I was sick… so I also ought to work.

And there’s a fourth hand, too. I’m still recuperating and if I take some time to rest, I might very well be completely better for the festivities.

The song of the day is “Joseph’s Lullaby” by Mercy Me .

Go to sleep my Son
This manger for your bed
You have a long road before You
Rest Your little head

Can You feel the weight of Your glory?
Do You understand the price?
Or does the Father guard Your heart for now
So You can sleep tonight?

Go to sleep my Son
Go and chase Your dreams
This world can wait for one more moment
Go and sleep in peace

I believe the glory of Heaven
Is lying in my arms tonight
But Lord, I ask that He for just this moment
Simply be my child

Joseph is one of the characters in the Christmas story, and there are a few songs about him. There are actually more new songs about Joseph than traditional carols.
