If you Google “layette pattern,” you’d get the impression that the Big 4 pattern companies all have traditional layette patterns. There are many patterns including a layette gown, onesie, nappy cover, lap shoulder or kimono tops, pants, and receiving blankets.
They are apparently out of print. Here’s what I came up with:
The Oliver + S Lullaby Layette pattern has a romper, pants, a top, and a reversible jacket.
Simplicity 1330 includes a receiving blanket, lap-shoulder top and onesie, kimono-style top, pants, and booties.
I’m also tempted by the Purl Soho layette pattern:
It has the nappy cover, which neither of the ones I bought do, as well as kimono top options beyond the Simplicity pattern. Oh, and yet another pair of pants.
I may look into buying a vintage pattern at Etsy instead, though. Babies need saques or gowns, and we fancy smocked dresses or rompers, too.
