#2 daughter’s Christmas sweater turned out to be too small, so I frogged much of it and am starting over. I also plan to figure out how to use the embroidery machine. And we’re going to the movies.  That’s the plan for today.

Yesterday we went out for lunch and I spent 5 hours working (according to RescueTime), and then we watched Christmas movies, ate burgers with chips and fruit and such from the Christmas Eve buffet, and played scrabble (#1 son won).

I have been thinking about the Word of the Year idea. This year, I chose a Word of the Year for the first time. The word was “beauty,” and I think I was successful in keeping it in focus. I did quite a bit to make my home more beautiful; I gave up the feeling that personal beauty — at least in the form of skin and hair care, make up, and clothing — is too frivolous to be worthy of attention, I too time to enjoy the beauty around me more.

When I look back at my blog for 2014, it has plenty of needlework and decorating, gardening and baking, travel and time with my family. It doesn’t look like a year obsessed with work to the exclusion of all else.

So I’m thinking that I will also have a word for 2015. Here are some words I’m toying with:

  • Peace, because 2014 was less stressful than 2013 (The Year of Failure) but still pretty stressful.
  • Health, because I really need to take better care of myself. Again, 2014 was a step in the right direction, but I must do better.
  • Clean, for clean eating — but also perhaps because I’d like to be a better housekeeper and have a greater degree of order in my life and my business, getting rid of some of the messy bits that have created stress for me.

I hope that I will have that settled before the new year begins.
