This is a beautiful song. Eleanor Farjeon wrote the words, which are lovely if somewhat mystical. The tune is Besançon, a traditional French carol. I always think of this song when I decorate and prepare meals for the holidays.

Today was a family breakfast.

We were also celebrating DIL’s birthday. Her kids weren’t at the family breakfast, but we have a baking day planned for next week.

#2 son also was not there, because he was involved in a fender-bender. That sounds better than a car crash, and he was not hurt. The people in the other car also were not hurt. We are all very thankful, though this was the only chance to see him again before Christmas.

As he said, we’re trying to have the best possible attitude about it. I hope that fixing the car will not be an ordeal.
