I am not an admirer of Donald Trump, and the government’s response to the pandemic is certainly fair game for political judgement. But I really don’t get why the pandemic itself looks different to people on opposite sides of the political spectrum.

If you’re a Republican, you’re more likely to think that COVID-19 was deliberately made in a lab. You probably think COVID-19 is no worse than the annual flu season. You may think that a little death and suffering is a worthwhile trade-off for limiting the economic consequences of stay at home orders and business shut downs.

That last point is a matter of opinion, but the first two are facts. They shouldn’t be open to interpretation based on your political views.
