The trip to Omaha from Kansas City was uneventful, but I can tell you this about Omaha: they have a pink marble art deco palace of a museum, and not many cities can say that.
The combination of the art deco style which was trendy when the building was built in the 1930s with the Western prairie sensibility is fascinating.
The grandeur of the materials and the over-the-top architecture is stunning.
Every room has beautiful details.
I assume that I am not alone in my particular fondness for the fountain court.
The contrast of this splendor with the lives of the people is thought-provoking.
The exhibits included some of my favorite painters.
I even got to see one of my favorite paintings in the flesh, as it were.
There is lots of variety.
I’m glad we took the time to enjoy the Joslyn.
