We didn’t travel today. We hung out in #2 son’s town and made like tourists. Specifically, we had breakfast at a century-old restaurant famous for its cinnamon roll French toast, and then #1 daughter and the Good Ol’ Boy went off to deal with car details and #2 son and I hit the bookstores, tea shops, and finally the awesome yarn store.
That is #2 son above, on the deck of the yarn shop. The weather was perfect, everything in the garden was lovely, and I had just acquired a bunch of yarn. Did I need a bunch of yarn? Perhaps not. But maybe I did. I asked for awesome baby yarn and got special organic cotton hand dyed stuff for the upcoming grandchild.
Also, when the owner said to me, “And if you’d like to make something for yourself…” a skein of gorgeous silk with a pattern for a single-skein shawlette.
#2 son and I enjoyed cocktails on the deck while discussing economics, politics, family history, and his current stage of life.
The one in front is a Vampire in the Sun. Pear vodka, champagne, orange juice, and grenadine. Delicious. The other is, I think, a Back Porch Sunrise. I’m not a drinker, but a beautiful place, delicious cocktail, and great conversation make an excellent combination. A nice way to prepare for a meal and celebrate a nice yarn adventure.
We met up with #1 daughter and the Good Ol’ Boy and had more Colorado pizza. In fact, that’s just about all we ate while in Colorado. Then we visited breweries. More great conversation, in beautiful places and excellent weather. In the evening, we hung out at #2 son’s place, indoors and out, and ate the leftover pizza.
All in all, a very nice day.
