I’ve been experimenting with sleeping until I wake up. My Fitbit still vibrates to wake me up at 6:00 a.m., but I press the button and go back to sleep. I’ve gotten up at 6:09 and at 6:47 and — shockingly — 7:48 this week. My sleep time average has been 7 hours and 53 minutes out of a goal of 8 hours. I only worked for 35 and a half hours and I missed my morning exercise twice.

So there have been pluses — getting closer to my sleep goal — and minuses. This morning I pried myself out of bed at 6:00 a.m. to make fruit crisp and get everything ready for the 8:00 a.m. team meeting.

I was planning eggs and kale with homemade apple cake, but my husband wanted doughnuts, so I went to the bakery and skipped the eggs.

This little granddaughter was delighted. She ate the frosting off a pink doughnut, plus the tops of several little apple cakes before her uncle stopped her.

This little granddaughter doesn’t eat solid food yet, so she played happily with her grandpa and ignored the whole breakfast issue. I bought the elephant onesie at Petit Bateau on the Champs Elysee and knitted the little shrug and hat in Kansas City, so her outfit brought back floods of happy memories.

I appreciate it weeny daughter dresses the girls in things I made (yes, the pink dress on the bigger of the Littles is also my work).
