The little boy’s quilt is applique with a scrappy pieced border. The Debbie Mumm pattern I started with had a solid panel with instructions to applique the motifs randomly onto the fabric. I know mine would not look good if I did this, so I used a Thimbleberries pattern to establish a grouping of fabric blocks and am appliqueing each block. Then I’ll sew them together and do the borders.
I traced the patterns from Debbie Mumm’s Quick Country Quilts with freezer paper. I ironed the freezer paper to the fabric and am in the process of doing the hand applique of the motifs to the blocks. There will be 13 blocks and so far I have one complete and two in process.
