That’s one skein of CotLin (Surf color way) being knitted up into a Cloverleaf Top. And the out of print treasure, The Manly Art of Knitting.

It contains the basics of knitting.

There are a few basic patterns stitches.

There are also instructions for a few items. A dog blanket, a horse saddle pad, stuff like that.

This improbably the perfect book for the cowboy seeking to knit during those long evenings back at the ranch, but for most of us it is a novelty.

An extremely cool novelty, granted. I’m glad to have a copy.

The CotLin has a lovely hand, and the stitch is quite nice and also easy. I’m moving ahead to the second skein now.
